About

ABOUT PASTURE RANGE

Pasture range egg farming is the practice of housing laying hens in a mobile structure which allows the hens to be moved on a regular basis.

This increases the welfare of the hen, decreases the need for waste removal, eliminates veterinary intervention and creates a superior nutritional value of the egg.

Get Started

Mobile Hen offers future egg farmers a turn key entry into egg production.

The unit comes fitted out with a specific bars for the hens to roost on, a rollaway nesting box system with conveyor belt collection, solar panels with programmable light settings and automatic door opening, drinkers, feeders and an automatic water supply.

Benefits

  • Create a reliable cash flow

  • Rapid and immediate return on investment (unlike the annual nature of most other agricultural products)

  • Improve farm fertility

  • Decrease inputs (fertilisers, synthetic worm controls)

  • Build carbon in soils

  • A marketing differentiation

Mobile Hen units fit seamlessly into other agricultural units. The hens can follow after cattle, sheep, horses or goats have grazed pasture. The hens spread the animal manure and break parasitic cycles by consuming larvae.

They also leave behind their own valuable fertiliser in the form of organic manure - applied without any need for machinery.

Farming using this method of holistic grazing is said to capture more carbon in soils, create more organic matter and increase fertility without the need for synthetic fertilisers.
